What We Believe

  • The current conflict needs to stop IMMEDIATELY
  • The Jewish people have suffered a long history of persecution and oppression, culminating in the holocaust, and they deserve to live in peace and security, in Israel and abroad
  • The Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and freedom from occupation and violence
  • We acknowledge and assert the humanity of both people, equally
  • We reject antisemitism, and acknowledge its rise and insidous nature

FAQs

What Does "Pals for Peace" Mean?

"Pals" has a double meaning: it is short for "Palestinians", and it also means "friends". Pals for Peace is for Palestinians and their friends, whoever those friends are, regardless of their ethnic, faith, or national identity. Pals for Peace is for anyone brave enough to advocate for dignity, peace and understanding between the Palestinian people and their Israeli/Jewish neighbors.

What Is Your Solution for the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict?

We wish we have an answer, but at the moment, we do not, and no one apparently does.

While we do not have the answer to this question, we have some very good ideas:

  • We need to start by calling for an immediate end to the violence and large-scale destruction of Gaza
  • We then need to acknowledge the humanity of both people, including the humanity of the Palestinians, which has been historically ignored
  • We need to support Palestinians, politically and economically, and minimize the suffering that has been going on for far too long, which has fueled anger and resentment among the Palestinian people, something that extremist groups have weaponized
  • We also need to build community and alliances between moderate Arabs/Palestinians and Jews/Israelis, who are by far the biggest constituency (but are being overshadowed by the extremes on both sides)
  • We need everyone's help: no matter what you identify with or what national/ethnic/background you come from, you can help build this alliance for peace!
  • Time will heal: this will not be solved immediately - it might take a generation (or more) for the burden of the trauma to loosen and for anger and resentment to subside

Do You Support a Two-State Solution?

Unfortunately, given the events of 2023-2024, talk of a two-state solution or one-state solution is meaningless.

Before we can address these different political solutions, the bloodshed needs to stop. We believe that these ideas are irrelevant and destined to fail at a time when people (mostly civilians) are dying by the thousands.

Ultimately, a two-state solution might be a way to move forward but until the ideas we mentioned earlier are addressed, it is a moot point and a waste of time.

What is Your Opinion of Hamas, and the Events of October 7, 2023?

We vehemently reject Hamas, their ideology, and their actions on October 7, 2023.

We reject violence and the targeting of innocent civilians. We equally denounce the Israeli government and the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) for their heinous acts of violence against innocent Palestinians, including women and children, and international charity organizations.

What is Your Opinion of Israel?

Israel and its people deserve the right to exist and live in peace and security. Israel is a wonderful country with a vibrant and diverse culture.

The Israeli government of late though, under the leadership of Benjamin Natanyahu, has advocated and implemented extreme policies against the Palestinian people in Gaza and in the West Bank, and has even angered the Israeli people by attempting to limit the power of the supreme court and triggering historic anti-government protests
